The Fort Worth Zoo celebrated Texas Wild’s 10th anniversary with an exclusive membership party. The Zoo’s Texas Wild exhibit pays homage to the wildlife native to our great state.

The Texas affair was complete with BBQ, western themed entertainment, ice cream and $5 adoptions.

All they need is love … and a little creativity. Megan’s husband, Justin, recently won the Big Tex Choice Award for Most Creative for his Fried Bubblegum creation!

Read more about it at the Star-Telegram and watch the video - be warned: you will want something deep-fried and sweet after.

Be sure to check out Justin’s booth and fried concoctions this year at the State Fair of Texas, which starts September 30 - October 23.

New Name, New Face

Before the launch of our new agency name, Schaefer Advertising Co., we celebrated the “birth” of our new office building in May. It was two years in the making so we definitely wanted to pop the cork and celebrate!

When creating the invitation for the event we tried to be as resourceful as possible so we took old wood timbers, pre-renovation, and cut them into pieces. A custom stamp was created with the party information and tacked onto the wood with rustic furniture tacks. It was definitely an “out-of-the-box” invitation that made a lasting impression.

We had a great turn out of clients, friends, and family and enjoyed delicious tacos and bites from Salsa Limon and Yum Yum Food Truck. Unfortunately we can’t post all the great photos from the party but enjoy a few below.

And, for more detail about our new and improved office digs, check out our article from 360 West Magazine. Cheers to many more office parties and celebrations and Schaefer Advertising Co.!

Just Chillin’

Growing up in Texas all my life you would think I would be acclimated to these sizzling summer days. But, I am not. Until now. The Fort Worth Zoo has more than 6,ooo animals in shaded habitats, mist-cooled environments, and indoor exhibits kept at a refreshing 74 degrees. No matter what the temperature outdoors, it’s always cool at the Fort Worth Zoo.

We just launched a “beat the heat” campaign for the Fort Worth Zoo that you are sure to spot around town. The campaign was comprised of bus benches, outdoor boards, print ads, and emails.

Oh Type, How I Love Thee.

Jim Datz’s design and illustration work is just beautiful. The handdrawn type, textures, and use of patterns are just lovely.

The four colors that rule my life from 8:30am-5:30pm, CMYK!! Too bad the Pantone color guide is in YMCK order, but you get the idea. I think I might try this look for Spring!

Virtual Water

I came across Virtual Water from another environmental blog I frequent. I am a sever sucker for icons and info graphics and even though I try to use in them in almost any and everything, I refrain. I think the use of typography and graphics is quite impressive. Download the Virtual Water app and become more conscious about how much water our everyday food and beverages really consume or, when the second edition poster comes in, hang it on your office wall!

Jazzoo

I’m loving this brand for Jazzoo, an annual fundraising event for the Kansas City Zoo. The look and feel was conceptualized and designed by Ai Carver, a designer in Kansas City. I like the use of patterns as well as the use of illustration in place of actual animal photography to give the event a playful, young feel. Every detail was well thought-out, from the parking tags to the on-site signage and posters.

Jonny Wan Illustrations

Jonny Wan, UK-based illustrator, was recently commissioned by DDB London to create a large-scale illustration to represent the unity of two of the world’s best production companies, Gutenberg and Paperhat. The resulting piece features a design that reveals more information about the services they provide, the closer you look. I love the use of varying typefaces to create a retro look as well as the use of monochromatic pinks, purples and reds. The detail is phenomenal!

Type Love

I am always on the look out for new typefaces, in addition to the 8,000+ we already have here in our font suitcase. But, you can never have too many great options available, especially this heavyweight champ titled Tabac Sans. It’s a new release from Suitcase Type, featuring eight weights and a huge variety of Open Type features. Pick it up from My Fonts right here.
